Using the world
The child grow, and the lessons gained through direct experience help it to transform matter into something useful: the flour becomes a bun, the strand of wool becomes a coat, the wooden spoon is stripped of its culinary function and is turned into a dainty doll, and shoe brushes, combs and table-tennis balls are transformed into percussion instruments. Children have discovered that foreign languages can be comprehended using dance. Experiences from the workshops featuring cookery, March-day amulet, wooden-spoon dolls, music, and traditional Italian and Estonian dance were documented and make up the seventh room of the Virtual Museum of Childhood.
